MARIANA LARCHER PSYCHOTHERAPY
Hello. I believe therapy offers a space to be curious about how you experience and relate to yourself and to the world. It's an opportunity to review what has shaped you, and to creatively experiment with how to be with it all in the now. In today's ever increasingly busy world, therapy offers time to take stock so you can find ways be more authentic, connected and resilient in how you experience life.
Have a look below at how I work and get in touch. I look forward to meeting you.
HOW I WORK
I work in person and online. I offer a warm, calm and confidential space where we can tune into what's going on, body and mind, and explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours in a creative and non-judgemental way. We move towards your goals, which can evolve during our work together, and we go at your own pace.
As an integrative psychotherapist, l use different approaches- predominantly psychodynamic, body based and person-centered, meaning that you are the source of knowledge for what we are exploring, and that our work is informed by your early life experiences and relationships, and what meaning you made of them, as well as your embodied experience right here right now. I am a relational therapist, so I also bring my experience of what it's like to relate to you into our exploration.
I tend to work with people with varied, often mixed, cultures and backgrounds; people who sometimes feel they don't quite belong. We can explore a range of issues, such as: stress, anxiety and overwhelm, lack of meaning and purpose, emptiness and depression, abuse, difficulties with sex, intimacy and relationships, family conflict, shame, loss, questions to do with identity, sexuality and behaviour, among others.
The length of our work together depends on what your needs are. We start with an initial consultation to help us figure out if we are a good fit and if we decide to go ahead, we will see each other weekly for a 50 minute session at an agreed day and time until an appropriate end - discussed and agreed between us.
I am bilingual and can offer sessions in Portuguese. I am also fluent in French and able to work with people wanting to use both French and English in the sessions.
ABOUT ME
I have over 15 years of experience in working with people from different backgrounds, cultures and nationalities. I have experience of living in areas affected by conflict and of being an immigrant. This international perspective has fuelled my interest in the diversity of human experience, what shapes our sense of identity and belonging.
I have been working as a therapist for almost a decade; I am interested in how emotions are felt and carried in the body and the lenses through which we interpret and give them meaning.
I believe that psychotherapy can facilitate a shift in the way we perceive our inner experiences in the context of our social and political structures, giving us a better understanding of who we are - and with that comes the possibility of more choice and impact, allowing for a more meaningful and fulfilling life.
