MARIANA LARCHER PSYCHOTHERAPY
When we feel overwhelmed, frazzled, anxious, confused, hopeless, or stuck in our lives, in our ways of being or thinking - in relation to single events or a lifetime of experiences - life gets tough.
Talking to someone you don't know can seem like an odd choice but talking helps, especially when that someone can listen, ask questions, notice and point things out in a way that can help you reflect differently on what is going on in your life.
Therapy can help you explore other ways of being and behaving, it can help you create space so you can feel freer and more resilient in the expression of who you are.
Have a look below at what I can do for you and get in touch. I look forward to meeting you.
HOW I WORK
I offer a warm, calm and confidential space where we can work together to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours in a creative and non-judgemental way. This means that you can use the time and space to tune into and discuss what is going on with you as honestly as you can.
As an integrative psychotherapist, l use different approaches to help us notice and think. I am a relational therapist, which means that I strive to be as present and honest as I can in my experience of what it's like to relate to you and use that as guiding information in what we do. We move towards your goals, which can evolve during our work together, and we go at your own pace, but therapy can be challenging and requires commitment.
I tend to offer open-ended therapy, the length of our work together depending on what your needs are. We start with an initial consultation to help us determine whether we are able to work together and if we decide to go ahead we will see each other weekly for a 50 minute session at an agreed day and time.
I am bilingual and can also offer sessions in Portuguese. I also speak French and would be able to work with people wanting to use both French and English in the sessions.
I have experience of working with people from different backgrounds, cultures and nationalities. I have also lived in areas affected by conflict and experienced being an immigrant. This international perspective has fuelled my interest in how we deal with diversity, issues of race, identity, culture and belonging, and trauma.
I believe that psychotherapy can facilitate a shift in the way we perceive the experiences we have within our social and political structures, giving us a better understanding of who we are and with that comes the possibility of choice and agency, allowing for a bigger, more meaningful and fulfilling life.
